The gilding of a square meter of a gable wall, a square precisely lit with an artificial light source. The liminal condition of the surface which should have held a drawing, now it ceases to exist. Instead of the drawing itself, we question the surface on which it materialises. The neutral whiteness of the paper or the textured “imperfect” surface of the wall are equally tangible, material, equally “usable” and ready to bear a drawing. Also, one can “draw” with light, but can the surface upon which we draw become light itself?

This Town Needs Posters is a platform for experiments in analog print and similar techniques which was started by Hrvoje Spudić and Sven Sorić in 2012. For the work they have been awarded in Zagreb and Belgrade. They collaborate with instances from the independent cultural scene, and have exhibited and lectured in most of ex Yugoslavia.
Hrvoje Spudić (Zagreb, 1987) graduated from Zagreb Faculty of Architecture in 2015. He is an explorer of techniques and technologies of print, photography, film and sound. He conducts his research with Sven Sorić in This Town Need Posters duo, Radiona makerspace, Klubvizija filmlab and in tandem with Sara Salamon. Since 2017. he is an assistant at Zagreb Faculty of Architectures department for drawing and visual design.
Sven Sorić (Sisak, 1989) is a freelance graphic designer, a member of the Croatian Designers Association and the Croatian Freelance Artists Association. In 2015 he earned a master’s degree from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, since then he has worked in graphic design exclusively. He co-founded This Town Needs Posters with Hrvoje Spudić. In his independent practice he is focused on editorial design and visual identities for cultural institutions.
Pozlata jednog kvadratnog metra zabatnog zida, kvadrat precizno osvijetljen umjetnim izvorom svjetla, izmjena svjetla i tame. Liminalno stanje plohe koja je trebala primiti crtež, a sada to prestaje biti.Umjesto samog crteža propitujemo površinu na kojoj on nastaje. Neutralna bjelina papira ili teksturirana “nesavršena” ploha zida jednako su opipljive, materijalne, jednako “iskoristive” i spremne nositi crtež. Također svjetlošću se može “crtati” no moželi ploha po kojoj bi se crtalo postati sama svjetlost?”

This Town Needs Posters je platforma za eksperimente u analognom tisku i oko njega koju su 2012. pokrenuli Hrvoje Spudić i Sven Sorić. Za svoj rad nagrađivani su u Zagrebu i Beogradu te surađuju s akterima nezavisne kulturne scene. Izlažu i predaju na čitavom prostoru bivše Jugoslavije.
Hrvoje Spudić (Zagreb, 1987.) diplomirao je 2015. na Arhitektonskom fakultetu u Zagrebu. Istraživač je tehnika i tehnologija tiska, fotografije, filma i zvuka. Svoja istraživanja provodi zajedno sa Svenom Sorićem u duu This Town needs Posters, hacklabu Radiona, filmskom laboratoriju Klubvizija, i u tandemu sa Sarom Salamon. Od 2017. je zaposlen na Arhitektonskom fakultetu u Zagrebu u Kabinetu za plastično oblikovanje pri Katedri za projektiranje.
Sven Sorić (Sisak, 1989.) je freelance grafički dizajner, član Hrvatske zajednice samostalnih umjetnika i Hrvatskog dizajnerskog društva. Godine 2015. diplomirao je na Arhitektonskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, no od tada se bavi isključivo dizajnom. Suosnivač je platforme This Town Needs Posters sa Hrvojem Spudićem, a u samostalnoj praksi fokusira se na dizajn knjiga i tiskanih publikacija te vizualnih identiteta za institucije u kulturi.
